The Edible Schoolyard Project (formerly the Chez Panisse Foundation), provides a K-12 curriculum to empower students with the knowledge and values to make food choices that are healthy for them, their communities, and the environment. Through lessons which are fully integrated into academic subjects and support Content Standards, Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.

The Goal

After years of continued growth and success, the Edible Schoolyard decided it was time to rebrand and reposition the organization, starting with their website. They wanted to showcase their exciting new programs, resources, and events, while inspiring educator, family and community involvement.

The Solution

Employing advanced technological features such as Apache Solr Search, Drupal’s organic groups concept, CRM integration, and dynamic mapping. As well as utilizing alternative proxy cache, memcached, and converting to pressflow to increase speed, traffic and activity, the Stauffer team’s work resulted in an engineering masterpiece.
